Understanding Mormonism – The Sex Cult

Understanding Mormonism – The Sex Cult

By David J. Stewart

Several people have recently asked me for my opinion regarding the Mormon compound in Texas, where more than 400 children were removed from their parents because of allegations of sexual molestation of minor girls. Authorities discovered that many of the children didn’t know their last names, and therefore the parents couldn’t be identified…

DNA tests on Texas sect children

A Texas judge has ordered that 416 children, removed from a polygamous sect by police, remain in state custody for genetic testing.

Welfare officers had told the judge they had been unable to determine which parents the children were related to.

The ruling comes after officials said some of the girls may have had babies when they were just 13 years old.

The closed community was first raided amid reports that a 16-year-old girl was physically and sexually abused.

Detectives are looking for evidence of a marriage between the girl and a 50-year-old man.

She is reported to have been beaten and raped by her older husband and to be pregnant again eight months after giving birth to her first child when she was 15.

Most Americans are scratching their heads, trying to understand the mentality behind this bizarre sex cult; however, it is not difficult to understand Mormonism if you study the writings of it’s founders, Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.

On February 19, 1854, Jedediah M. Grant, second councilor to Brigham Young, spoke in the Salt Lake Tabernacle, telling of Joseph Smiths demands for other men’s wives:

“When the family organization was revealed from heaven—the PATRIARCHAL ORDER of God, and JOSEPH began, ON THE RIGHT AND ON THE LEFT, TO ADD TO HIS FAMILY, what a quaking there was in Israel. Says one brother to another, ‘Joseph says all covenants are DONE AWAY, and NONE ARE BINDING BUT THE NEW COVENANTS; now suppose JOSEPH should come and say HE WANTED YOUR WIFE, what you say to that?’ ‘I would tell him to go to hell.’ This was the spirit of many in the early days of this Church….”

“What would a man of God say, who felt aright, when JOSEPH ASKED him for his money? He would say, ‘Yes, and I wish I had more to help to build up the kingdom of God.’ Or if HE CAME AND SAID, ‘I WANT YOUR WIFE?’ O YES,’ he would say, ‘HERE SHE IS, THERE ARE PLENTY MORE.’… Did the PROPHET JOSEPH WANT EVERY MAN’S WIFE HE ASKED FOR? He did not,… If such a man of God should come to me and say, ‘I want your gold and silver, OR YOUR WIVES,’ I should say,’ HERE THEY ARE, I WISH I HAD MORE TO GIVE YOU, TAKE ALL I HAVE GOT.’“

As you’ve just read, Joseph Smith taught that a genuine man of God is always willing to surrender his own wife to a spiritual leader.  No wonder Mormons are so messed up!  Smith’s successor, Brigham Young, taught that it is Biblically lawful for a wife to LEAVE HER HUSBAND for a man higher in spiritual authority…

“But there was a way in which a woman could leave a man lawfully – when a woman becomes alienated in her feeling and affections from her husband, it is his duty to give her a bill and set her free – it would be fornication for a man to cohabit with his wife after she had thus become alienated from him… Also, there was another way in which a woman could leave a man – if the woman preferred a man higher in authority and he is willing to take her and her husband gives her up. There is no bill of divorce required, in [this] case it is right in the sight of God.”

Starting to get the picture?

Brigham Young even taught that Mormon men could become “gods” ONLY by entering into polygamy…

“The only men who become gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy.”

Now let’s apply these false doctrines to a naive family, who sincerely joins the Mormon Church, thinking they’ve just joined a Bible-believing New Testament Church. After getting to know their new church family, a fondness develops between the couple and the elders in the church. The husband and wife increasingly are taught to admire and trust the wisdom of the Mormon leaders. The doctrines of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young are indoctrinated into the couple.

After time, this couple now believes that it is lawful to do anything-it-takes to make their spiritual leaders happy. I don’t need to go into graphic detail. You see where this is going. It’s a matter of trust. Mormon’s are taught to trust… MEN.  The Word of God plainly warns against trusting man…

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” —Jeremiah 17:5

“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” —Psalm 118:8

The most dangerous thing you’ll ever do is put down your Bible, for without the Truth of God’s Word you’ll be susceptible to every lie of Satan. The “official” Mormon Church claims that the sex-cult group in Texas is not a part of their main organization. That is not true. The group in Texas is known as FLDS (Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) and they know clearly what it means to be “fundamentalists” to doctrines of Mormonism. They are true followers of the teachings of Smith and Young. ALL Mormons recognize the writings of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young as inspired. Mormonism is Mormonism.

Every religious cult elevates the opinions of a man, or group of men, or a woman, to the level of being EQUAL with the Word of God, i.e., the Bible.  The word “heresy” in the Bible comes from the Greek word hairesis.

Here is what VINE’S COMPLETE EXPOSITORY DICTIONARY OF OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT WORDS (Page 303) states concerning the word “hairesis” …

…”a choosing, choice”; (from haireomai, “to choose”) then, “that which is chosen” and hence, “an opinion” especially a self-willed opinion, which is substituted for submission to the power of truth, and leads to division and the formation of sects…

SOURCE: VINE’S COMPLETE EXPOSITORY DICTIONARY OF OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT WORDS; ISBN 0-7852-1160-8

The word “heresy” in the Bible simply means, “an opinion”. Many of the doctrines circulating in today’s churches are merely opinions which are not based upon the Word of God. In John 5:39 Jesus commanded His disciples to… SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES!!! It is dangerous to form one’s opinions apart from the Bible. People who express teachings not taught in the Scriptures are guilty of spreading heresy.

Mormonism is a Satanic religion, straight out of the pits of Hell. It is a sex cult that brainwashes it’s victims into believing that it is proper and right for wives and daughters to give themselves sexually to the leaders on the Mormon Church. Deny it as some Mormons may, the writings of their FOUNDERS are irrefutable evidence of this woeful evil.

The Bible and the Book of Mormon Compared

The Bible and the Book of Mormon Compared

By Chad Lyndon Dills

So what’s the point of this comparison? It shows that the Book of Mormon has committed plagiarism by utilizing our beloved Final Authority (THE KING JAMES BIBLE) without “giving credit to whom credit is due.” Is the Book of Mormon a direct revelation from God? Not a chance! To say that the Book of Mormon contains THE TRUTH is like saying that you found a diamond ring in a trash can. –the administrator of the Bible Believers’ Home Page.

What Mormon Missionaries WON’T Tell You

What Mormon Missionaries WON’T Tell You

By David J. Stewart

Most of us have had a Mormon Missionary knock at our door.  If you have ever invited them in and listened to a presentation of their beliefs, you probably found most but not all of what they said very similar to those beliefs held by Christians.  However, while trying to convince you that your Church is wrong and the Mormon Church is right, there are several points they intentionally leave out.  Below is a list of Mormon beliefs the missionaries will be reluctant to tell you about:

They will be reluctant to tell you that the God they worship was not always God.
“We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity.  I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see.”  (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 345)
They will be reluctant to tell you that they believe Jesus Christ is the spirit brother of Satan:
“The appointment of Jesus to be the Savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God.  He was called Lucifer, son of the morning. Haughty, ambitious, and covetous of power and glory, this spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Savior of mankind.”  (Milton R. Hunter, Gospel Through the Ages, pg.15)
They will be reluctant to tell you that, according to Mormonism, Jesus Christ was a polygamist.
“I discover that some of the Eastern papers represent me as a great blasphemer, because I said, in my lecture on Marriage, at our last Conference, that Jesus Christ was married at Cana of Galilee, that Mary, Martha, and others were his wives, and that he begat children.”  (Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses 2:210)
The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age.  A belief in the doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers.  We might almost think they were ‘Mormons’” (Jedediah M. Grant, Journal of Discourses, 1:346)
They will be reluctant to tell you that for at least half a century church leaders were teaching that Adam was really God and the only God with whom we have to do.
“Now hear it, O inhabitants of the earth, Jew and Gentile, Saint and sinner!  When our father Adam came into the garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him.  He helped to make and organize this world.  He is Michael, the Archangel, the Ancient of Days! about whom holy men have written and spoken–He is our Father, and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do.”  (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 1:50)
“I have learned by experience that there is but one God that pertains to this people and he is the god that pertains to this earth–The first man.  That first man sent his own son to redeem the world…”(Heber C. Kimball, Journal of Discourses 4:1)
They will be reluctant to tell you that Brigham Young, who held the office of President of the Mormon church longer than any other man, taught that men must practice polygamy in order to become Gods.
“The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy.”  (Journal of Discourses 11:269)
They will be reluctant to tell you that the book of Mormon fails to contain any Mormon doctrine
Many portions of this Mormon Scripture even contradicts Mormon theology.
They will be reluctant to tell you about their secret temple ceremonies which, until April 1990, portrayed Christian ministers as hirelings of Satan.  Nor will they tell you about the sacred underwear they are wearing which, they believe, actually protects them.
They will be reluctant to tell you that Mormon leaders have taught that Jesus was conceived by way of a sexual relationship between God and Mary.
“..how are children begotten?  I answer just as Jesus Christ was begotten of his father.  The difference between Jesus Christ and other men is this:  Our fathers in the flesh are mortal men, who are subject unto death: but the Father of Jesus Christ in the flesh is the god of Heaven” (Joseph F. Smith, Family Home Evening Manual, 1972, pg. 125)
They will be reluctant to tell you that they believe the bible has been corrupted throughout the centuries and cannot be trusted fully by itself.
“I believe the Bible as it read when it came from the pen of the original writers. Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors.” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph smith, pg.327)
“But the Bible has been robbed of its plainness; many sacred books having been lost, others rejected by the Romish Church, and what few we have left, were copied and recopied so many times, that it is admitted that almost every verse has been corrupted and mutilated to that degree that any two of them read alike.” (Orson Pratt, The Seer, pg.213)
They will be reluctant to tell you that the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants, which they claim to be both sacred and without error, contradict each other many times.
For example, in the Book of Mormon, God called David and Solomon’s act of polygamy an abomination, whereas in the Doctrine and Covenants He claims to justify it.  Jacob 2:24 in the Book of Mormon says, “Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord.”  Section 132:1 in the Doctrine and Covenants, however, states: “Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you my servant Joseph, that inasmuch as you have inquired of my hand to know and understand wherein I, the Lord, justified my servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as also Moses, David and Solomon, my servants, as touching the principle and doctrine of their having many wives and concubines.”
They will be reluctant to tell you that they use Christian terms with Mormon meanings.
For example, a Mormon would probably agree with you that a person must be born again.  To the Mormon, however, “born again” is a process which begins with water baptism.  Another example are the words “salvation” and exaltation,” which are synonymous in the Christian’s mind.  However, general salvation to the Mormon merely means the resurrection which everyone in the world will receive at death.  Exaltation, or individual salvation, is the reward earned by the Mormon by following the laws of the Moron church.  “Eternal Life” to the Mormon means Godhood.  Regarding the word “scriptures,” the Christian thinks of the Holy Bible while the Mormon could be thinking of not only the Bible but the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price as well.
They won’t want to tell you that in order to gain entrance into the highest form of Mormon heaven, the Celestial kingdom, you must accept Joseph Smith, Jr. as a prophet of god.  Faith in Jesus alone, Mormonism teaches, will force you to spend eternity in a lower form of heaven.
Tenth LDS President Joseph Fielding Smith stated in his book, doctrines of Salvation, that there is “No salvation without accepting Joseph Smith.  The word “salvation,” used in this context, must really mean “exaltation” because former Mormon apostle Bruce R. McConkie stated in his book Mormon Doctrine that general salvation is given to everyone regardless of belief.  Personal salvation or exaltation to the highest form of Mormon heaven comes only by accepting Joseph Smith as a prophet of god and by following the laws of the LDS church.
They will be reluctant to tell you that their founder, Joseph Smith, Jr., made many false prophecies which, according to the Bible, would classify him as a false prophet rather than a true prophet of God.
For instance, in 1835 Smith claimed that the Lord would again come in just 56 years.  We would gather from this “prophecy” that Jesus Christ would again come to earth on or before 1891; no doubt Joseph Smith was incorrect (History of the church 2:182).  In 1832 Joseph Smith claimed he had a revelation concerning the building of a temple in Independence, Missouri.  According to section 84, verses 4 and 5, of the Doctrine and Covenants, he stated this “temple shall be reared in this generation.  For verily this generation shall not pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord, and a cloud shall rest upon it…”  to this day the spot consecrated by Smith fails to be the sight of a great temple, but instead is covered with a well-kept lawn.  In fact, the Mormon church does not even own the land.

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN SAVED?

Is there a time and place in your life, when you trusted in the blood of Jesus Christ?  Not joined a church, not kept the sacraments, not baptism, not good works — but simply, by faith, prayed and asked Jesus Christ to save you?

To die without Jesus Christ will be the worst thing you could ever do…

“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the LAKE OF FIRE.” Revelation 20:15

YOU CAN BE SAVED THIS VERY MINUTE!

It’s simple to be saved…

  1. Know you’re a sinner.
  2. “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” Romans 3:10

“… for there is no difference. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23

  3. Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for your sins.
  4. “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, …” 1 Peter 2:24

“… Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,” Revelation 1:5

  5. And the best way you know how, simply trust Him, and Him alone as your personal Savior.
  6. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE SAVED?

Pray this prayer, and mean it with all your heart.

Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and unless you save me I am lost forever. I thank you for dying for me at Calvary. I come to you now, Lord the the best way I know how, and ask you to save me. I now receive you as my Savior.  In Jesus Christ Name, Amen.

Mormons say: “I can become a god…” Let’s look at the Holy Bible.

Mormons say, “I have the opportunity
to become a god…”

By David J. Stewart

Romans 1:22-23 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

The Mormons do offer the King James Bible on their commercials so I’m sure you’ll have no objections to me quoting from it…does the God of the Bible say that there are many gods?

Isaiah 43:10 …before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. Isaiah 44:6 …I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Isaiah 44:8 …Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

Isaiah 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me

Isaiah 45:6 …there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

Isaiah 45:21 …there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

Isaiah 46:9 …I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

Deuteronomy 32:39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

The God of the Bible emphatically says that there is ONLY ONE GOD (Deuteronomy 6:4) and He will not share His glory with another (Isaiah 42:8). The Bible talks a lot about false prophets… Joseph Smith – leader and founder of the Mormons in 1830–was a false prophet. If you remain deceived it is because you choose to. Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to Heaven and no ceremonies and fairy tales will save your soul.

As for the Book of Mormon, God gives some stern warnings for those who would add to His word or take away from it…

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” -Revelation 22:18,19

“ADD thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” -Proverb 30:6

Joseph Smith added to the Bible; thus, he is a liar and is burning in Hell today. The Bible says yea, let God be true and EVERY man a liar. Concerning the Bible, it was not written by men–

Knowing this first, that NO prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were MOVED by the Holy Ghost.” -2nd Peter 1:20,21

The cult of Mormonism adds to the Bible. Specifically the Book of Mormon, written by false prophet Joseph Smith. He and Mormon leaders have made merchandise out of you if you’re a Mormon. They’ve sold you a bill of goods. You think you have good things, but you don’t realize you have arsenic. All your seers and prophets and Journal of Discourses, baptisms for the dead, signs, symbols, special underwear, eternal marriage, etc… ALL contradict the word of God.

Many people today question the Bible’s veracity. Do you honestly believe that God does not have the power to preserve His Word from a wicked generation?

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, THOU SHALT PRESERVE THEM FROM THIS GENERATION FOR EVER.” -Psalm 12:6,7

Know ye not that the word of God endureth forever? Where do you think the word of God was before false prophet Joseph Smith came along?  Hidden?  Nay, it cannot be destroyed!

For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 1:25 But THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURETH FOR EVER. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” -1st Peter 1:24

No one has to be fooled by false prophets. God has left us the Written Record of His Word. All we have to do is take heed.

Ask the Lord to give you eyes that see, and ears that hear, and a heart that understands that you may be converted. That Mormon mumbo-jumbo will only take you to Hell on a greased pole. Jesus Christ is the Beginning and End of salvation, the Author and Finisher, the First and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega. You won’t make it into Heaven without Him. Another name for the Jesus is the Word of God (Revelation 19:13). You must believe His Word or you won’t make it in. There is ONLY ONE God and there is ONLY ONE way to be reconciled to God–His name is Jesus. Jesus is NOT your elder brother, He is the Creator of the universe–there’s no other God beside Him (Isaiah 43:10-12). You need to seek God and meditate on these things a long time because your eternity rests on your obeying the TRUTH.

The Plain Truth about the Mormons

The Plain Truth about the Mormons

The following excellent article was written by Pastor James L. Melton:

The Mormon movement began with “the prophet” Joseph Smith, Jr. in the year 1820. Joe (as he was known) was born to some rather strange parents in 1805. His mother, Lucy, was involved in occult practices and visions, while his father, Joseph, Sr., consumed much time with imaginary treasure digging (including the booty of Captain Kidd).

According to Mormon writings (Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith – History 1:1-25), on a day in 1820, Joe was praying in the woods when he received a vision from God the Father and Jesus. It was revealed to Joe that the church was in apostasy and he was the chosen one to launch a new dispensation.

Being unwilling to drop his current occupation of money-digging with his father (while using “peep stones” and “divining rods”), Joe put his “calling” on hold for three years. Then, according to his own account (Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith – History 1:29-54), he was paid a bedside visit by the angel Moroni in 1823. Moroni, who professed to be the glorified son of a man named Mormon (who had been dead 1400 years), told Joe about a book of golden plates which contained “the fulness of the everlasting Gospel.” This book was said to have been buried at Cumorah Hill, near Palmyra, New York, some 1400 years earlier by the man named Mormon. Four years later (1827), Joe supposedly dug up the golden plates along with a gigantic pair of spectacles which he called “the Urim and Thummim.” The spectacles were for translating the hieroglyphics on the plates. With the help of his only legal wife and a friend named Oliver Cowdery, Joe translated the plates and published the Book of Mormon in 1830. Later that same year, Joe, his wife, his brothers (Hyrum and Samuel), and Cowdery established the “Church of Jesus Christ,” which is known today as the “Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints.”

The Book of Mormon contains many plagiarisms of the King James English (at least 25,000 words). This is strange since the plates were supposed to have been in the ground many centuries before the King James Bible was completed in 1611! The Book of Mormon also contains many errors such as claims of elephants in the Western Hemisphere and advanced metal producing capabilities in America before 400 A.D. (See Walter Martin’s Kingdom of the Cults for a fine study in the errors of the Mormon Bible)

The Mormons, under Smith’s command, turned out to be a rough bunch. Joe was a polygamist with at least twenty- seven wives (some say over 60 wives). The whole gang left New York for Ohio, and then moved to Missouri. The Missouri governor ran them out of the state, so they settled in Nauvoo, Illinois, and built the state’s largest city. In 1844, Joe and Hyrum were thrown in jail. Then an angry mob stormed the jail and murdered them both. Naturally, this “martyrdom” insured the perpetual reverence of the great “prophet” Joseph Smith.

The “church” then split. The Smith family headed for Independence, Missouri and started what is now the “Recognized Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints.” However, the majority of Smith’s followers chose Brigham Young as their new captain.

To escape U.S. laws, Young led the Mormons from Nauvoo to Salt Lake City in 1847 (which then belonged to Mexico). For the next thirty years, Young and his “saints” laid the foundation stones of the Mormon cult.

Little known to most Mormons, Young was a rather rough and ruthless character. In 1857, he commanded Bishop John D. Lee to murder a wagon train of over one hundred helpless non-Mormon immigrants. Twenty years later Lee was convicted and executed by the U.S. Government. Young escaped punishment, and his role in the Mountain Meadows Massacre has escaped the Mormon history books.

Young spent most of his “ministry” dodging the law to continue the immoral practice of polygamy. At the time of his death in 1877, Young had seventeen wives and fifty-six children.

Today the Mormon church is administrated by its “General Authorities.” These authorities consist of the “First Presidency,” the “Counsel of Twelve Apostles,” the “First Quorum of the Seventy” and its presidency, the “Presiding Bishoprick,” and the “Patriarch of the Church.”

Male Mormons over twelve years of age are divided into priesthoods. The Aaronic order is the lesser priesthood, and the Melchizedek order is the higher.

The church is divided into thousands of “wards” and “stakes,” with over 2000 branches and 180 missions, and over 5,000,000 members.

Mormons are very missionary-minded people, with over 26,000 active missionaries. However, much of this missionary army consists of young men and women in their early twenties who must serve two years in missionary work while supporting themselves.

The Mormon people of today are highly respected in our society, but there is nothing respectable about their doctrines. Some are as follows:

The Deity of Man Promoted

Mormons teach that man can become God, and that God was once a man:

“God himself, the Father of us all, is a glorified, exalted immortal resurrected man!” (Bruce McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, pp. 322-23, 517, 643)
“…God himself was once as we are now and is an exalted man and sits enthroned in yonder heavens…” (Journal of Discourses, V6, P3, 1844)
“As man is, God once was: as God is, man may become.” (Lorenzo Snow, quoted in Milton R. Hunter, the Gospel Through the Ages, pp. 105-106)

This is plain and simple heresy. Nowhere does the Bible say or imply that God was ever a man, or that man can become God! Malachi 3:6 says, “For I am the LORD, I change not…” How could this be true if God was once a man? Genesis 1:1 states that God existed “in the beginning” before man was ever created. John 4:24 states that God is a “spirit,” and Jesus tells us in John 1:18 that no man has seen God at any time. Numbers 23:19 says that “God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should repent.” God has always been God, and no one has ever “become” God.

Deity of Jesus Christ Denied

The Deity of Jesus Christ is a fundamental doctrine of Christianity, yet the Mormons deny this truth. Exalting man to “god status” is apparently alright, but Jesus Christ is not acknowledged as the eternal Son of God in the Mormon church. The Mormon jesus was a preexisting spirit who was exalted, just as Mormon followers hope to be exalted someday.

God is a Trinity (I Jn. 5:7), and the second Member of that Trinity is the Lord Jesus Christ. John 1:1 says that “the Word was God,” and John 1:14 tells us that “the Word was made flesh.” Jesus Christ is the Word incarnate, and John 1:1 tells us that the Word was God; so Jesus Christ is God.

Jesus allowed Thomas to address Him as “My Lord and my God” in John 20:28. In Isaiah 9:6, He is called “The mighty God” and “The everlasting Father,” and we read in Micah 5:2 that Jesus is “from everlasting.”

Our Lord allowed people to worship him in John 10:38 and in Matthew 14:33, and since He is “God with us” (Mat. 1:23) He also has power to forgive sins (Mk. 2:5). Jesus Christ is clearly Deity, yet this doctrine is denied by the Mormons.

Multiple Authorities

The Bible declares, “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” (Isa. 8:20) However, the Mormon Church claims that other writings, such as the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith’s writings are also authoritative. In fact, Joseph Smith taught his people to doubt the accuracy of the Bible: “…it was apparent that many important points touching the salvation of men, had been taken from the Bible, or lost before it was compiled.” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 10)

Mormon Writings Support Polygamy

“…if any man espouse a virgin, and desire to espouse another, and the first give her consent, and if he espouse the second, and they are virgins, and have vowed to no other man, then he is justified; he cannot commit adultery…And if he have ten virgins given unto him by this law, he cannot commit adultery.” (Doctrines and Covenants, 132:61, 62)

Jesus Christ held a different view (Mark 10:6- 9). There is no way a man can be “one flesh” with more than one woman. A man and his wife are supposed to picture Christ and his church (Eph. 5:23-32), but this symbolism is shattered by the Mormon heresy of Polygamy.

True Church Theory

The Mormon book, The Pearl of Great Price, claims that all other Christian groups are “corrupt” and are an “abomination” in God’s sight (Joseph Smith, 2:19). Such claims as this are based on the unscriptural assumption that the Lord Jesus Christ has a specific religious organization on the earth today, complete with a name, a membership, and a leadership, which makes up His “true church.” This doctrine is found nowhere in God’s word. Everyone who has received Christ as their Saviour is a member of His church, which is a spiritual body of born-again believers (Eph. 4:4; 5:23-32; Col. 1:18-24; Heb. 12:23; Rev. 19:7; 5:9-10; 21:9).

Other False Teachings

The Mormons deny the Trinity and the existence of a literal burning Hell, yet they promote polytheism (many gods), baptism for the dead, and the notion that Jesus and Satan were originally spirit brothers! Friend, make no mistake about it–Mormonism is a dangerous cult. In the eyes of man, the Mormons seem very respectable, but the light of God’s word reveals the true wolves behind the sheep clothing. Jesus said, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” (Mat. 7:15) Don’t look at their nice families, their clean-cut hair, and their friendly “missionaries.” LOOK AT THEIR DOCTRINES! (I Tim. 4:1)

There is no way to cover all of the Mormon heresies in a tract this size. For further reading, we recommend our publication, The Bible Believer’s Handbook of Heresies, which sheds light on many of the heresies being taught today in the name of our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Salvation through Works

Mormons believe that one’s salvation is based on such good works as baptism, good deeds, missionary work, and following Mormon teachings. In The Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, justification by faith in Jesus Christ is called a “pernicious doctrine” twice and he states that it has been “an influence for evil.” (pp. 107, 480) Bruce McConkie once stated at Brigham Young University that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is “improper and perilous” (Church News, March 20, 1982, p. 5)

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Romans 4:5 says that salvation comes to those who do not work for salvation, but believe on Jesus Christ instead!

Jesus Christ came into this world to lay down His sinless life for YOU–to pay for your sins because you couldn’t. Jesus is your only hope for salvation. Only by receiving Him as your Saviour can you enter the gates of Heaven. There is no other way. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” (John 14:6) “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

The Lord Jesus Christ has come and PAID for your sins by shedding His own Blood on Calvary. By receiving Him as your Saviour, you can be WASHED from all your sins in His precious Blood (Rev. 1:5; Col. 1:14; Acts 20:28; I Pet. 1:18-19). Notice these important words from Romans 5:8-9: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”

Jesus PAID your way to Heaven! Your church cannot save you! Only by receiving Jesus Christ as your Saviour can you escape the damnation of Hell. Are you willing to forsake YOUR righteousness and receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour, your ONLY HOPE for Salvation? Romans 10:13 says, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Why not pray right now and ask the Lord to come into your heart and cleanse you from all sin? He will save you just as He promised.

Mormon Religion Exposed

Mormon Religion EXPOSED!

The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
Complied and edited by David J. Stewart

From the left, Joseph Smith allegedly received the gold Nephi plates (the book of Mormon) from the angel Moroni. Even if the so called angel, “Moroni”, really did appear to Joseph Smith, he is still accursed because the gospel of the Book of Mormon is very different from the gospel of the Bible. Since the Book of Mormon does not conform to the standard of the Bible, it is NOT Christianity, but condemned being a new and false gospel. The Mormon religion is straight out of the pits of Hell. Mormonism denies the deity of Jesus Christ. Mormonism teaches that a person must be baptized to go to Heaven. Mormonism is a sexually degenerate cult that is known for pedophilia and abuse. There are many more links down below. Mormonism has the wrong Jesus, not the Jesus of the Bible Who is Almighty God (John 10:33; Revelation 1:8).

  1. “I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you, and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed.” Gal 1:6-8.
  2. “Let no one keep defrauding you of your prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind” Col 2:18.

Some of the Most Blasphemous and Damnable Mormon Doctrines

  1. “We believe in a God who is Himself progressive, whose majesty is intelligence; whose perfection consists in eternal advancement — a Being who has attained His exalted state by a path which now His children are permitted to follow, whose glory it is their heritage to share. In spite of the opposition of the sects, in the face of direct charges of blasphemy, the Church proclaims the eternal truth: ‘As man is, God once was; as God is, man may be.‘” (LDS Apostle James E. Talmage, Articles of Faith, Ch.24, p.430 – p.431, LDS Collectors Library ‘97 CD-ROM)
  2. ” ‘It is the first principle of the gospel to know for a certainty the character of God,’ the inspired word continues, ‘and to know that we may converse with Him as one man converses with another, and that He was once a man like us; yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ Himself did.’ The Father is a glorified, perfected, resurrected, exalted man who worked out his salvation by obedience to the same laws he has given to us so that we may do the same. (LDS Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, A New Witness for the Articles of Faith, p.64, LDS Collectors Library ‘97 CD-ROM)
  3. “Thus, on this beautiful spring morning in the Sacred Grove, Joseph Smith witnessed the renewal of God’s dealing with his children in accordance with the great gospel plan of redemption. Upon this occasion God the Father and his Beloved Son Jesus Christ appearing as glorified Resurrected Beings unto a chosen servant of God, made known once again the state of immortality which man will attain in preparation for the next estate of eternity; that also the world once again could know the reality of the personal nature of God the Father and his Beloved Son. (LDS Apostle Alvin R. Dyer, Conference Report, April 1963, p.49 – p.50, LDS Collectors Library ‘97 CD-ROM)
  4. “As we stretch our imaginations to absorb the limitlessness of the creations of God we turn to a favorite song: If you could hie to Kolob in the twinkling of an eye, And then continue onward with that same speed to fly, D’ye think that you could ever, through all eternity, Find out the generation where Gods began to be? Or see the grand beginning, where space did not extend? Or view the last creation where Gods and matter end? Methinks the Spirit whispers, “No man has found ‘pure space,’” Nor seen the outside curtains, where nothing has a place. The works of God continue, and worlds and lives abound; Improvement and progression have one eternal round. There is no end to matter; there is no end to space; There is no end to spirit; there is no end to race.” (LDS Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p.250, LDS Collectors Library ‘97 CD-ROM)
  5. God: Creator And Ruler Of Many Worlds. — While it is true that evolutionists may be divided between theistic and atheistic groups, yet most of those professing belief in God consider him to be an indefinable force, essence, or power of an incomprehensible nature. According to revelation, however, he is a personal Being, a holy and exalted Man, a glorified, resurrected Personage having a tangible body of flesh and bones, an anthropomorphic Entity, the personal Father of the spirits of all men. (D. & C. 130:22- 23; Moses 6:51, 57; Abra. 3:22-24; Jos. Smith 2:16-19.)”
  6. “We are members of the family of the Eternal Father. He is a glorified and exalted and eternal Being, having a resurrected body of flesh and bones. His name is God, and the kind of life he lives is God’s life. His name is also Eternal, and the name of the kind of life he lives is eternal life. Eternal life is God’s life, and God’s life is eternal life. We are commanded to be perfect as he is perfect and to advance and progress until we become like him, or in other words, until we gain eternal life. Thus Joseph Smith said, “You have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you, namely, by going from one small degree to another, and from a small capacity to a great one; from grace to grace from exaltation to exaltation, until you attain to the resurrection of the dead, and are able to dwell in everlasting burnings and to sit in glory, as do those who sit enthroned in everlasting power. (Teachings, pp. 346-47.) Christ our Lord has so obtained, thus enabling him to say to the faithful: “Ye shall be even as I am, and I am even as the Father.” (3 Ne. 28:10.)” (LDS Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, The Mortal Messiah, Vol.1, p.23 – p.24, LDS Collectors Library ‘97 CD-ROM)
  7. “I will prove that the world is wrong, by showing what God is. I am going to inquire after God; for I want you all to know Him, and to be familiar with Him; and if I am bringing you to a knowledge of Him, all persecutions against me ought to cease. You will then know that I am His servant; for I speak as one having authority. … I will go back to the beginning before the world was, to show what kind of a being God is. What sort of a being was God in the beginning? Open your ears and hear, all ye ends of the earth. for I am going to prove it to you by the Bible, and to tell you the designs of God in relation to the human race, and why He interferes with the affairs of man. … “God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret. If the veil were rent today, and the great God who holds this world in its orbit, and who upholds all worlds and all things by His power, was to make himself visible,–I say, if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in form–like yourselves in all the person, image, and very form as a man; for Adam was created in the very fashion, image and likeness of God, and received instruction from, and walked, talked and conversed with Him, as one man talks and communes with another. … “In order to understand the subject of the dead, for consolation of those who mourn for the loss of their friends, it is necessary we should understand the character and being of God and how He came to be so; for I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see. … “These are incomprehensible ideas to some, but they are simple. It is the first principle of the gospel to know for a certainty the character of God, and to know that we may converse with Him as one man converses with another, and that He was once a man like us; yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ Himself did; and I will show it from the Bible. … “I wish I was in a suitable place to tell it, and that I had the trump of an archangel, so that I could tell the story in such a manner that persecution would cease forever. What did Jesus say? (Mark it, Elder Rigdon!) The scriptures inform us that Jesus said, as the Father hath power in himself, even so hath the Son power–to do what? Why, what the Father did. The answer is obvious–in a manner to lay down his body and take it up again. Jesus, what are you going to do? To lay down my life as my Father did, and take it up again. Do you believe it? If you do not believe it you do not believe the Bible. The scriptures say it, and I defy all the learning and wisdom and all the combined powers of earth and hell together to refute it. Here, then, is eternal life–to know the only wise and true God; and you have got to learn how to be gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all gods have done before you, namely, by going from one small degree to another, and from a small capacity to a great one; from grace to grace, from exaltation to exaltation, until you attain to the resurrection of the dead, and are able to dwell in everlasting burnings. and to sit in glory, as do those who sit enthroned in everlasting power. And I want you to know that God, in the last days, while certain individuals are proclaiming His name, is not trifling with you or me.” (LDS President Joseph Smith, History of the Church, Vol.6, Ch.14, p.305-6, LDS Collectors Library ‘97 CD-ROM)
  8. Intelligent beings are organized to become Gods, even the Sons of God, to dwell in the presence of the Gods, and become associated with the highest intelligences that dwell in eternity. We are now in the school, and must practice upon what we receive.” (LDS President Brigham Young, Discourses of Brigham Young, p.245, LDS Collectors Library ‘97 CD-ROM)
  9. “This was the calling of Joseph Smith. He taught anew that God was in the form of man; that man was made in the image of God; and he taught the principles of justice, mercy, charity, and forgiveness. … He taught the truths that the Prophets before him had taught; and he went beyond them. … Joseph Smith taught men to look up to heaven and conceive of a God in the form of man. He taught them that they could become like their Father and God, who was ‘an exalted Man.’ And what is more simple and reasonable? Don’t you parents expect your children to become like you? Or do you expect your children to be something else than men and women? No. You men will see your sons become men; you women will see your daughters become women. Then God our Father–yes, and our Mother–in heaven, looking down upon this world– this school house in which their children are being educated–expect, and Joseph Smith taught it as a truth, that their children will be exalted, if they pursue the proper course, until they shall become divine beings themselves, worthy to stand upon that plane where stand their Father and their Mother in heaven. Like begets like; and the principle of eternal progress will make of man a God (LDS Apostle Orson F. Whitney, Collected Discourses, Vol.5, May 8, 1898, LDS Collectors Library ‘97 CD-ROM).

Mormons deny the deity of Jesus Christ

The Deity of Jesus Christ is a fundamental doctrine of the faith, yet Mormons deny Christ’s deity. Instead, Mormons promote man to the status of being “gods.” Mormonism is straight from Hell and must be exposed for the lies that it teaches. The Word of God proclaims that Jesus Christ is God (John 1:1-3,10,14). Isaiah 9:6 called Jesus the “Everlasting Father.” John 10:33 reads, “The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” The Jews were trying to kill Jesus because He was claiming to be God. They also tried to murder Jesus in John 8:57-59. In fact, Jesus professed Himself as Almighty God in Revelation 1:8, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty“. Jesus forgave sin as only God can do (Mark 2:5). Jesus accepted worship as only God is entitled to (Isaiah 42:8; Matthew 8:2). Mormons wickedly deny Christ’s deity, while selfishly proclaiming their own. Mormons have foolishly bought into the Devil’s lie that they will one day become gods. The Word of God never teaches any such nonsense. There is and always will be only one Living God (Deuteronomy 6:4).

The Deity of Man Promoted

Mormons teach that man can become God, and that God was once a man:

God himself, the Father of us all, is a glorified, exalted immortal resurrected man!’ (Bruce McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, pp. 322-23, 517, 643)
‘…God himself was once as we are now and is an exalted man and sits enthroned in yonder heavens…’ (Journal of Discourses, V6, P3, 1844)
‘As man is, God once was: as God is, man may become.’ (Lorenzo Snow, quoted in Milton R. Hunter, the Gospel Through the Ages, pp. 105-106)

This is plain and simple heresy. Nowhere does the Bible say or imply that God was ever a man, or that man can become God! Malachi 3:6 says, ‘For I am the LORD, I change not…‘ How could this be true if God was once a man? Genesis 1:1 states that God existed ‘in the beginning‘ before man was ever created. John 4:24 states that God is a ’spirit,’ and Jesus tells us in John 1:18 that no man has seen God at any time. Numbers 23:19 says that ‘God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should repent.‘ God has always been God, and no one has ever ‘become’ God.” -quote by Pastor James Melton

Mormons Teach Salvation by Works

“Mormons believe that one’s salvation is based on such good works as baptism, good deeds, missionary work, and following Mormon teachings. 5)” -quote by Pastor James Melton

The Word of God clearly teaches that salvation is by simple heart’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 10:10).  Titus 3:5 reads, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.” The “washing of regeneration” is NOT speaking about baptism, but about the blood of Jesus that washes our sins away “…and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” -1st John 1:7.  When we receive Christ as our Saviour, our sins are cleanses away by Jesus blood.  Colossians 1:14 declares, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.

John 1:12,13 proclaim, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Salvation is of God friend, NOT you or anyone else. Good works cannot save us. The Pope cannot save us. The priest cannot save us. The church cannot save us. Baptism cannot save us. Missionary works cannot save us. The sacraments cannot save us. ONLY Jesus can save us, and Jesus is God!  “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” -John 14:6.  It’s Jesus or Hell friend, turn or burn!  Please turn from your unbelief while you still can, and place your complete trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and save you.

Reasons to Reject the Book of Mormon

  1. There is no room for the Book of Mormon because the Bible itself claims to be all-sufficient, compete and incorruptible and our judge on the last day.
  2. The Book of Mormon contradicts the Bible.
  3. The Book of Mormon makes many scientifically false statements.
  4. Absolutely none of the specific historical content of the Book of Mormon has been verified through Archeological finds.
  5. We do not have the Gold Nephi Plates for the world to examine.
  6. Although the original 1830 edition of the Book of Mormon was alleged to be inspired in its English translation, there have been thousands of changes, corrections, additions and deletions. Most Mormons have never seen the original 1830 “inspired” edition and would be shocked if they did.
  7. Although they claim direct guidance by God, the Mormon church is among the most divided church in the world with more than 89 different sects who will not cooperate with each other.
  8. The book of Doctrines & Covenants is very different depending upon which sect you are talking to.
  9. The three witnesses of the B of M were all excommunicated by the Mormon church and were of less than ideal character.
